Chono Studios has just shared a video showing off some of their new lighting updates made to the game and it looks like a completely different game. You can check it out here:

If you played the beta, the comparisons are night and day. So many of the locations felt very bright and while the beta was no slouch especially with a modern GPU, this comparison video shows that there was still a lot of room for improvement.
Some of you may remember the “flashbang” feeling depending on the angle of the sun and it seems like that era is a thing of the past.
This is really going to bring a lot of these areas to life. I’m especially fond of the new swamp which is reminding me more of Reekwater from New World and that’s a good thing.
Keep in mind that this is still heavily Work In Progress footage so it’ll hopefully look even better although if the game came out looking like this, I don’t think that many would complain. As long as they are being mindful of performance and scalable settings for lower end machines, by all means I hope they push the visuals as far as they can get them!
New World had an incredible atmosphere that made exploration feel really immersive especially with fast travel being as restricted as it was and having an experience like that is one thing I really want out of Chrono Odyssey.
Considering the overlap between the two games and the depressing news of the end of New World, Chrono Odyssey now has even bigger shoes to fill if it wants to be a place for New World players to call home and updates like this are a good sign of the direction they are going in.
I can’t wait to see more updates and since we’re closing in on the end of the year, we might have a new beta right around the corner!
